Dr. Thomas Cassidy received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1984. Upon graduation, he provided eye care as an associate with the largest contact lens practice in Massachusetts. In 1990, Dr. Cassidy returned to his home state of Michigan to practice optometry and to raise his family.
Dr. Cassidy feels the key to good optometric care is to provide his patients with information so they fully understand their visual status. Then together, the patient and he can determine the appropriate ways to enjoy healthy eyes for a lifetime. As a result, Dr. Cassidy spends a great deal of time during an eye examination explaining each vision test and then providing a complete summary of his findings to his patients. His areas of interest include children’s vision and contact lenses.
Being part of the community is very important to Dr. Cassidy. He is active in the Canton Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board of directors for three terms, including a term of President of the Board in 2001. He also served on Canton’s Downtown Development Authority board for four years and the Canton Intersection Assessment Committee for over four years. In 2008, Dr. Cassidy was honored by the township of Canton with a “Community Achiever” award, given to individuals who devote time and energy to promote Canton Township.
Dr. Cassidy is married to Helene Cassidy. They have lived in Canton since 1990 and have two grown children, Sarah and Andrew. He is a member of the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He enjoys golf and traveling in his spare time.
Dr. Brian Pierce is a 1992 graduate of Ferris State University College of Optometry. His undergraduate education was completed at Michigan State University. Optometric internships were completed at Battle Creek Veterans Hospital, Southern Michigan Correctional Institution, as well as Ferris State University's Optometric Clinic. These experiences have him a wide variety of patient care and ocular health experiences.
Dr. Pierce continues to advance his optometric education through continuing education classes and workshops across the United States. He feels education is power and makes every attempt to assist the patient with a thorough understanding of their personal situation.
Dr. Pierce advocates health and wellness through vision care. He believes in a comprehensive eye exam yearly for his patients. In doing this many health issues and diseases can be detected through the eye. As a Type 2 Diabetic, he understands the relationship certain diseases have on the body.
Dr. Pierce enjoys working out, watching his son play college baseball and his daughter on a competitive dance team. His areas of interest include sports vision.
A former Canton resident for 7 years, he now resides in Dexter since 1999, with his wife Mary and their two children, Dylan and Breanna. A member of the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Pierce enjoys Michigan State football, Detroit Tigers and the Lions.
