Eye Care for Children
Did you know that school vision screenings fail to detect a visual
problem in one of six children with a visual disorder? That's why it is important for all
school-age children to have a comprehehsive eye examination. As a matter of fact,
we suggest that every child have an annual Back to School examination, to be sure that each
child starts the school year seeing well.

The Vision Center has a large selection of
children's eye glass frames.
Also, children do not need to be able to read to have an eye examination. With the diagnostic
equipment we have at The Vision Center, we can examine a child as young as six months of age.
Contact Lens Examination and Care
With the wide selection of contact lenses available today, just about
everyone is able to wear contact lenses. However, because of this wide
selection of lenses, optometrists must develop the skills and knowledge to
select the proper lens for their patients. Contact lenses must fit
comfortable on your eyes, provide clear, crisp vision and not compromise
the health of your eyes. If a lens doesn't perform to our standards, we
will not use it. This is why we continually investigate every new contact
lens that becomes available to make sure you get the right contact lens
for you.
Every contact lens patient at The Vision Center receives complete
instructions on the proper care and wearing of the lenses, as well as a
starter kit containing all of the solutions needed to clean and disinfect
the lenses. To insure that your eyes are healthy while wearing lenses, we
require several check ups throughout the year. Your contact lens
examination fees include all of this follow-up care.
Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) Eye Care
Computer Vision Syndrome is the term used to describe the visual
symptoms associated with prolonged computer use.
Symptoms:
- headaches
- eyestrain
- eye fatigue
- blurred vision
- dry, burning eyes
Causes:
- glare
- monitor placement
- screen color

Although no permanent damage occurs while looking at a computer screen,
the constant focusing on the screen does cause a lot of stress on your
eyes. Our eyes were not designed to stare at a computer screen all day. If
you stare at a computer for a large part of your day, you may already
notice the symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome. As part of our
comprehensive eye examination, we will determine if a "computer
prescription" will help your eyes perform easier and more efficiently
while working on your computer, and thereby reduce your symptoms.
Emergency Eye Care and Treatment of Eye
Infections
Hopefully, you will never need this service. However, if you or any
member of your family ever develop an infection (such as pink eye), or
injure your eye in any way, you can be sure that you will receive the best
and most up-to-date treatment possible at The Vision Center.
Being certified in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents means we have
undergone extra studies and intensive training to be able to treat all eye
infections and injuries.

Post-operative Laser Surgery Eye Care
Are you considering laser surgery to eliminate the need for glasses or
contacts, we can provide you with an objective assessment of your eyes and
help you evaluate the benefits and risks of this surgery.
If you do elect to have surgery, we are certified in all aspects of
post-surgical treatment. This means that all of your post-surgery care can
be provided right here at The Vision Center office. You won't need to
travel back and forth to any far away surgical center.
Glaucoma Management
Glaucoma is a serious eye disease that can rob a person of their
vision. It is a painless condition that occurs when the fluid pressure
inside the eye rises to unsafe levels. Simple test, which are part of our
normal comprehensive eye examination, can determine if you have glaucoma.
Michigan now allows optometrists to treat patients with glaucoma. As
part of our Certification in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents, we are
fully qualified to provide treatment for glaucoma patients.
Industrial Safety Eye Exams and Safety Glasses
According to the National Society to Prevent Blindness, almost 1000 eye
injuries of some type still occur each day in the work place. Almost all
of these eye injuries could have been easily prevented with protective
safety eyewear.
Why risk injury?! The Vision Center has developed safety eyeglass
programs for several local businesses. If you need to wear safety
eyeglasses on your job, ask your personnel director, or company manger to
contact us about our Safety Eyeglass Program. We'll design a program to
fit all of your company's eye care needs.
